Eurovision 2024 Israel Boycott

Israel to be represented by Eden Golan at this year’s contest

amid ongoing boycott calls over treatment of Palestinians

Protests continue to roil the lead up to this years Eurovision Song Contest as protestors call for an end to Israeli Boycott Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement

Israel will be represented by Eden Golan at this year’s contest, the Israeli broadcaster Kan announced on Sunday.

The decision has been met with controversy, as the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement has called for a boycott of Eurovision 2024 over Israel’s treatment of Palestinians.

Protests have been taking place in the lead up to the contest, with activists calling on participants to withdraw from the event. One such protest took place on Saturday, with campaigners waving flags and holding banners that read “Boycott Eurovision 2024”.

The BDS movement has accused Israel of “artwashing” by using the contest to distract from its human rights abuses. In a statement, the movement said: “We hope to show the EBU that the people of Malmö reject their attempt at artwashing.”

Eurovision organizers have said that they do not want the contest to be about the Israel-Palestine conflict. However, the protests have highlighted the ongoing tensions between the two sides.

The Eurovision Song Contest is a popular annual event that brings together singers from across Europe. The contest will be held in Liverpool, UK, in May.
