A Brief History of the Montgomery County Police Department
The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) was established in 1923 with a force of just 12 officers for our entire county! Today, the MCPD is a nationally accredited law enforcement agency with over 1,300 sworn officers and 650 civilian employees.
The MCPD's Mission
The mission of the MCPD is to safeguard life and property, preserve the peace, and prevent and detect crime. The department is committed to providing the highest level of service to the community and to working in partnership with residents to make Montgomery County a safe place to live, work, and raise a family.
