Josh Shapiro: Pennsylvania's New Governor
Early Life and Career
Josh Shapiro, the newly elected Governor of Pennsylvania, was born in Kansas City, Missouri on June 20, 1973. His father served as a medical officer in the Navy, and Shapiro was raised in Dresher, a part of Upper Dublin Township in Pennsylvania.
Shapiro attended the University of Pennsylvania and Harvard Law School. After graduating, he worked in the Clinton White House as a special assistant to the President and a White House speechwriter.
Governor of Pennsylvania
In 2016, Shapiro was elected Attorney General of Pennsylvania. As Attorney General, he launched several high-profile investigations, including one into child sexual abuse in the Catholic Church.
In 2022, Shapiro was elected Governor of Pennsylvania. He is the first Jewish person to be elected governor in Pennsylvania's history. Shapiro has pledged to focus on education, healthcare, and protecting the environment during his tenure as governor.
Family and Personal Life
Shapiro is married to Lori Shapiro, née Ferrara. They have four children together. Shapiro is an avid runner and enjoys spending time with his family.
