Rizzo Touches Home In Return to Wrigley

A hero's welcome for the former Cub

Anthony Rizzo returned to Wrigley Field for the first time as a visitor and received a standing ovation from Cubs fans.

Rizzo, who was traded to the New York Yankees in July, spent seven seasons with the Cubs and helped them win the 2016 World Series. He is one of the most popular players in Cubs history and was greeted with a warm ovation when he stepped to the plate in the first inning.

Rizzo went 0-for-4 in the game, but he did draw a walk and score a run. He also made a nice play at first base in the fourth inning, fielding a ground ball and throwing out the runner at second.

After the game, Rizzo said it was "surreal" to be back at Wrigley Field as a visitor. He said he was grateful for the ovation he received from the fans and that he will always cherish his time with the Cubs.

"It was a special moment," Rizzo said. "I'll never forget it."

The Cubs lost the game to the Yankees 5-2, but Rizzo's return was a bright spot for the home team. He was given a standing ovation when he left the game in the eighth inning.

Rizzo's return to Wrigley Field was a reminder of his popularity with Cubs fans. He is a true fan favorite and will always be remembered for his contributions to the team.
